Vacuum-Bell-Testing

Detects an open seam through negative pressure.

Flat roof leak detection using the negative pressure system

The vacuum or negative pressure system is a non-destructive leak detection method on flat roofs. It uses a vacuum bell and a testing fluid (foam-forming material) to reliably detect and visualize leaks in the waterproofing. It is paricularly suitable for seams of welded waterproofing membranes and other small areas.

Technical Details

Benefits

  • Non-destructive and precise
  • Ideal for detail areas and connections
  • Fast and direct leak detection
  • No water or tracer gas required
  • Cost-effective for small areas

Flat Roof Assembly

  • Flat roof single-ply systems and bituminous membranes
  • Roofs with sensitive detail connections
  • Industrial roofs with complex structures
  • Smaller waterproofed areas
  • Membranes wirh easily accessible areas

Perfect for

  • Flat roofs with localized damage
  • Connections, upstands and joints
  • Maintenaince and quality control of seams
  • Detailed inspections on new buildings
  • Targeted leak detection without large-scale investigations

How it works

The vacuum bell is placed over the seam, and a vacuum pump is used to create a vacuum. If airs enters, this indicates a leak. Pressure changes or foam formation make damage immediately visible.
